Description
Are your students ready to explore and learn 2D shapes and Kindergarten
geometry? This 2D shape unit was designed to give you everything you need to teach a comprehensive, developmentally-appropriate kindergarten 2-D shapes math unit.
Students will learn to identify 5 2D shapes (circle, triangle, square, rectangle, and hexagon). They will also learn to compose 2D shapes, compose pictures using 2D shapes, recognize positional words, and recognize real world 2D shapes. This math unit has an emphasis on sorting.
These units were developed to be taught whole group but would also work well in a small group setting. The teacher will be guiding the students in an I do, We do, You do model.
Does this unit included differentiation? Yes! Differentiation options for students who need scaffolded support or an extended challenge are included for each lesson.
