How do these first grade sensory bin centers work? Just print the cards on sturdy cardstock or laminate, cut out, and add to a sensory bin. Students will pull a card and record the answer on their recording sheet.

January Sensory Bin Math and Literacy Centers:
Feed the Polar Bear Sounds: Students will pick a word to feed the polar bear and color the matching picture on their recording sheet. Skills included: digraphs, beginning blends, CVCe words
CVC or CVCe Words: Students will choose a CVC or CVCe word picture in a snow globe and match it to its base. Skill: CVC and CVCe words
Mitten Sounds: Students will pick a mitten and color the matching word on their recording sheet. Skills included: beginning blends, CVCe words, glued sounds ng and nk
Writing Words: Students will pick a mug and write the matching word on their recording sheet. Then, they will use a word in a sentence. Skills included: digraphs, beginning blends, CVCe words
Sight Words: Students will pick a sight word penguin and match it to the ice. They can color, write, or use the word in a sentence. Skill: high frequency words
Making Numbers: Students will choose a tens fish and a ones fish to create a two-digit number. They will use that number on their recording sheet. Skills included: place value, expanded form, comparing numbers, counting on
Adding Snowflakes: Students will choose 2-3 snowflake numbers and add them together. Skills included: addition within 10 or 20, adding 3 numbers, making a ten to add, number bonds, fact families
Snowball Fractions: Students will pull a snowball. They will either divide the shape on their paper to match the divided shape on the snowball, or color in parts of a shape to match the fraction. Skills included: dividing shapes, fractions
Snow Globe Subtraction: Students will solve the subtraction problems and match the snow globes to their bases. Skills included: subtraction within 12, subtraction within 20.
