How to use the June Write the Room Literacy Centers:

1. Hang up the literacy center cards around the room
2. Students will grab a recording sheet and a clipboard
3. They will search the room for the cards
4. When they find a card, they will color or write the answer on their recording sheet

Differentiation made easy! Many of these 1st Grade write the room literacy centers contain multiple recording sheet options to make differentiation easier.

June Write the Room Literacy Centers:

• Search and Color: Students will search for the cards and color the matching letter or sound their recording sheet. Skills: CVCe words, r-controlled vowels, vowel teams
• Catching Words: Students will search for the cards and color the matching word or sound. Skills: r-controlled vowels, vowel teams, diphthongs
• Real or Nonsense Students will search for the cards and decide if they are real or nonsense. Skills: CVCe words, r-controlled vowels, vowel teams, diphthongs
• Reading Sentences: Students read the sentence and color the matching picture. Skills: digraphs, CVCe words vowel teams
• Surfing for Words: Students will search for the cards and either color or write the word. Skills: VCCV words, VCe words
• Read and Draw: Students will search for the cards. They will read the word and draw a picture to match. Skills: CVCe words, r-controlled, vowel teams, diphthongs
