What will a lesson look like?
- Introduce the sound: You will introduce the sound and students will repeat.
- Mouth formation: You will introduce how to form the sound with your mouth.
- Key image: A key image will be used to relate the sound to a beginning sound picture.
- Introduce the letter: The letter will be introduced as the way we spell the sound.
- Yes or No: You will show one letter at a time and students will identify whether it is the target letter.
- Alphabet vocabulary: You will introduce 5 vocabulary words that begin with the letter sound.
- Alphabet sentences: You will read alphabet sentences to work on letter sounds and concepts of print. Point and read the sounds and picture – /a/, /a/, apple.
- Alphabet motion: You will introduce a kinesthetic alphabet motion.
- Yes or No Pictures: Students will decide if each picture begins with the letter sound.
- Letter formation: Letter formation practice with both uppercase and lowercase letters. Students will sky write the letters.

ALPHABET REVIEW DIGITAL TEACHING SLIDES

Review 2 letters over a three-lesson cycle:
- Lesson one: Review the first letter.
- Lesson two: Review the second letter.
- Lesson three: Review both letters together.
These alphabet review digital slides are set up to go in a suggested letter order that follows my SOR Guided Curriculum, but they can be used out of order. Editable slides are included for the day 3 review lesson where you review two letters together.
What will a Day 1/2 lesson look like?
- Introduce the sound: You will introduce a key image and students will identify the sound it begins with and the letter you are reviewing.
- Letter review: You will review the letter as how we spell the sound.
- Mouth formation: You will review how to form the letter sound with your mouth. Real mouth photos are used in these slides.
- Alphabet motion: Students will make an alphabet motion as they review the letter sound.
- Letter formation: Students will sky write the letters.
- Key image: You will review the letter sound with a beginning sound key image.
- Yes or no: Students will listen to the words and identify whether they begin with the target letter sound.
- Alphabet decodable sentences: Students will read alphabet decodable sentences for fluency and concepts of print practice.
What will a Day 3 lesson look like?
- Review both letter sounds: You will introduce and review both letter sounds and letters.
- Letter formation: Students will practice sky writing both letters.
- Letter Race: Students will race to read the letters as quickly as they can.
- Key images: You will review both letter sounds by identifying them at the beginning of words.
- Beginning sound ID: You will show students images. They will identify which letter sound each image begins with as quickly as they can.

CVC WORDS DIGITAL TEACHING SLIDES
Take a closer look:
The first 5 weeks introduce CVC words by short vowel. Each lesson will include:
- Alphabet review: Students will race to name the letters.
- Letter Sounds Review: Students will identify the letter sounds. When they get to an action, they will stop and do that motion 5 times.
- Sound Introduction: You will introduce the vowel sound.
- Mouth Formation: You will review how to form the sound with your mouth.
- Phonemic Awareness: Students will decide if a word contains the vowel sound or not.
After that portion, each day of the week will focus on:
- Day one: successive blending and decoding words
- Day two: vowel sound sort and decoding words
- Day three: encoding and writing CVC words
- Day four: high frequency word and reading CVC word sentences
- Day five: writing CVC word sentences
The heart words / high frequency words introduced each week include:
- Week one: see
- Week two: the

- Week four: is
- Week five: this
Week 6 is a review week. These lessons will include:
- phonemic awareness identifying vowel sounds
- interactive vowel sound sorts
- blending lines
- decoding words

What program are these slides formatted for? The slides are formatted for Google Slides™ and PowerPoint™.
I teach 1st grade (or another grade). Can I use these slides? Yes! I have just labeled this bundle as Kindergarten for now as most of the skills covered are Kindergarten skills.
If I use these slides whole group, what can I use in small groups? These slides can be your tier 1 whole group instruction. For your tier 2 differentiated small group instruction, I suggest the Science of Reading Guided Curriculum.
