How to use the May Write the Room Literacy Centers:

1. Hang up the literacy center cards around the room
2. Students will grab a recording sheet and a clipboard
3. They will search the room for the cards
4. When they find a card, they will color or write the answer on their recording sheet

May Write the Room Literacy Centers:

• Search and Color: Students will search for the cards and color the matching letter or sound their recording sheet. Skills: r-controlled vowels, vowel teams ai/ay
• Hungry For Words: Students will search for the cards and color the matching word or sound. Skills: r-controlled vowels, Vowel Teams ee/ea, diphthongs ou/ow
• Sweet Contractions: Students will search for the cards and write the contraction on their recording sheet. Skills: contractions
• Real or Nonsense: Students read each word and decide if it is real or nonsense. Skills: CVCe words, r-controlled vowels
• Snow Cone Words: Students will search for the cards and write the words on their recording sheet. Skills: CVCe words, r-controlled vowels, vowel teams
• Yes or No: Students will search for the cards. They will read the word and decide if it match the picture. Skills: r-controlled vowels, vowel teams
• Sentences: Students will search for the cards. They will read the sentence and color the matching picture. Skills: vowel team sentences
