Strong phonemic awareness is essential to reading success. The Segmenting Ferris Wheel is the perfect small group activity to practice segmenting and blending words! Your students will LOVE moving their cart around the Ferris wheel as they segment each word and blend it back together.
How to use this phonemic awareness activity:
- Attach the ferris wheel cars to a popsicle stick
- Show students a picture or say a word
- Students will move their cart clockwise around the Ferris wheel as they say each sound.
- When they get to the bottom, students will blend the word back together.
You can do this phonemic awareness activity with pictures or completely orally! Picture cards are not included in this download.
This set includes options for segmenting words with 3, 4, or 5 phonemes. It includes both color and black and white options.
