Happy virtual teacher appreciation week day five! Before we left school because of all of this craziness, we had just finished up our subtraction unit. We made this adorable apple tree subtraction craft and I thought it would be perfect to share today, along with a digital version that you can use right now!
Apple Tree Subtraction Craft
For this craft, I let students choose how many apples they started with and how many fell out of their tree.
I gave each student 5 apples and then they could choose if they started with all five or less. You could also let them choose from apples up to 10, but this was our first time with a subtraction story problem craft this year so I wanted to start small.
When they finished the subtraction craft, they filled out the story problem to match and attached that at the bottom.
You can grab the printable version of this craft here.
Digital Subtraction Activity for Kindergarten
I’ve also made this activity digital! It includes a hands on digital subtraction center and a digital version of the subtraction craft.
For this center, students will use the apple manipulatives to solve the subtraction problems. They can move them from the tree to the basket to subtract!
For the digital version of the story problem craft, I have included 10 virtual apples. Students can choose how many they start with in their tree and then how many they take away. They will then fill out the subtraction story problem.
You can get the digital version of this craft here.
