Of course, we begin by learning about what is Presidents’ Day. We also spend a day learning about Abraham Lincoln and a day learning about George Washington.
These are my favorite Presidents’ Day children’s books for learning about the history:

But then, students get to start making connections to their own life. We pose the question, “What if I was the president?”

Presidents’ Day Writing Activities
For this Presidents’ Day activity, students will imagine themselves as president. This writing activity can be easily differentiated based on your grade level.
In Kindergarten, students just think of one thing they would do if they were president.
As I’m sure you can imagine, we get some interesting answers! I love hanging these up in the hallway as a Presidents’ Day display.
For first grade and second grade, you can get a little deeper with the discussion.
If you were the president, what would be the best part? What would be the worst part? What new laws would you make?
Your students will LOVE coming up with their platform for this Presidents’ Day writing activity!
