I’m not going to sugarcoat it – distance learning in Kindergarten or 1st grade is HARD! But one thing that I have found makes it so much easier is having pre-made, hands on digital centers and activities ready to go.
These January digital centers are aligned to our learning standards and make differentiation easy. I can just select the slides I want, make a quick copy (read how to do that in 2 clicks here), and assign.
If you’re using Seesaw, it’s even easier! It’s a 1-click preloaded link. Just click the link and it will add the activity to your activities library. You can assign it to students there.
How To Use Digital Centers in the Classroom
Digital centers are such a blessing for distance learning! Here are a few different ways you can use digital centers while distance learning:
- Assign to students as a follow up to a lesson
- Display during virtual lessons and complete with students
- Use them to model a skill for students
- Collect data and use these as an assessment
- Have students who are working independently complete them when you are meeting with small groups
- Share with families as an extra support
But what about when we’re not distance learning? You don’t have to be done with digital centers! Here are a few ways you can use digital centers in the classroom:
- As your technology center – the bonus of digital centers is that student work is recorded without a stack of papers!
- As an option during free flow centers
- Share with families who need extra support
- Have students complete with an aide or volunteer for intervention
Mouse Control Practice
Every month includes digital mouse control practice. Students will complete the exercises to gain mouse control and practice technology skills such as residing and rotating.
