More about this resource...
This narrative writing lesson is a sample lesson from my Kindergarten Narrative Writing Unit, which is unit 3 in my Kindergarten Writing Curriculum. The lesson included is “Stories Have a Beginning.” In this lesson, students will learn to identify the characters and setting when they write the beginning of their story.
This lesson has an introduction, mini-lesson, independent write time, and share time. I have included the story icons that are included in all of my writer’s workshop units for your reference.
Please note that this sample lesson is from unit 3. Units 1 and 2 (Oral Storytelling and Stories with Pictures) set the background for the parts of a story and this unit assumes that you have established that background with your students.
