The Very Greedy Bee Activities
The Very Greedy Bee is one of those books that never fails to entertain! Students absolutely love the story.
I have planned out an entire week of close read lessons and activities for you to dig deeper into The Very Greedy Bee. Each day, you will use this story to work on a different comprehension focus.
There are also vocabulary cards and activities included to help your students better understand the story.
You will also read a nonfiction book all about bees. Here is the anchor chart we made full of our bee learning:
You will read two different nonfiction books about bees and compare the information you learned in each book. This is a great way to target the kindergarten ccss RI.K.9 and first grade ccss RI.1.9.
Honey Bee Craft for Kids
After you learn all about bees, students can make this adorable bee craft and display it with their writing.
This bee craft is also a great way to work on listening comprehension with kids! Students will have to listen and follow directions to make their bee.
Bee Picture Books for Kids
If you’re looking for more bee picture books to read during your bee week, these are some of my favorite bee books for kids!
The Thing About Bees / Please Please the Bees / From Flower to Honey / The Honeybee / Bees / Give Bees a Chance / The Bee Book / The Beeman
Honey Bee Poem for Kids
You can’t have a week full of bee activities without a poem, right? For shared reading, I have written an original bee poem just for you!
You can read this bee poem with your class daily to work on reading fluency. There are also poetry notebook pages and an emergent reader of this poem included.
Honey Bee Directed Drawing
I love making directed drawings with my class. They are the perfect way to get in some listening and following directions and fine motor practice.
You can make this bee directed drawing together, and then put the step-by-step directions in your writing center for students to reference.
