I have wanted letter building puzzles forever, but I am the world’s cheapest teacher and I didn’t want to pay the big bucks. That’s when I came up the easiest way to make your own letter building puzzles for free!
All you need for these puzzles is:
✏️ Colored paper or cardstock
✏️ PowerPoint, Keynote, or a similar program
✏️ A marker
✏️ Scissors
Optional: A laminator
To begin, I opened up PowerPoint and made a text box. I used the font KG Red Hands Outline, which is a free download for personal use only.
I typed the letter I wanted and then increased the text size until it filled the entire page.
Duplicate that page and then changed the letter on each page. Done and print!
Make Your Alphabet Puzzles
On each letter, I used a marker to draw cutting lines. You can make these as simple or complex as you want!
Want these to last? I suggest laminating your puzzles before cutting! If you don’t want to laminate them, make sure you print on card stock for durability.
Cut Your Letter Puzzles Apart
Cut your letter puzzles apart and presto – you have the world’s easiest letter puzzles!
These would make great, hands-on literacy center or morning tub options! They won’t take much time to make and you can ask parent volunteers to do the cutting for you if needed.
You could also allow students to make their own letter building puzzles with the letters of their name.
