These monthly math and literacy activities were designed with sensory bins in mind, but would also be perfect for center activities, morning tubs, or early finishers.

Prepping Your Sensory Bin:

• Decide how you want to store your sensory bins – a plastic tub or drawers for multiple bins and a time work well.
• Decide what fillers you want in each sensory bin. A list of suggestions is included.

3 Literacy Sensory Bin Activities and 3 Math Sensory Bins

1. Chicka Alphabet Tracing – Pull a letter and trace it with the matching color.
2. Crayon Colors – Pull a crayon and color the matching color object or color word.
3. Bus Beginning Sounds – Pull a bus card and identify the beginning sound. Color the matching letters.
4. Chalkboard Numbers – Pull a number and trace it or color the matching dots.
5. Penciling In 2D Shapes – Pull a 2D shape card and color the matching shape or real life shape object.
6. Crayon Count – Pull a number card and color the matching crayon box. Bonus counting mats are included.

2. Spider Sight Words – EDITABLE – Match the sight word spiders to their webs.
3. Search for Beginning Sounds – Pull an leaf and identify the beginning sound using a magnifying glass. Color the matching letters.
4. Leaf Numbers – Pull a number and trace it or color the matching tree. Count out leaves to match the number.
5. Comparing Pumpkins – Pull two number cards and compare the numbers.
6. Counting Bats – Pull a number card and count out that many bats.
7. Skeleton Tally Marks – Match the skeleton numbers to the tally marks.

November Sensory Bin Activities Include:

1. Turkey Feather Alphabet – Pull a letter and trace or color it with the matching color.
2. Fall Sight Words – EDITABLE – Match the sight word owls to their leaves.
3. Search for Beginning OR Ending Sounds – Pull an acorn picture and decide the beginning OR ending sound. Color the matching letters.
4. Turkey Numbers – Pull a number and trace it or draw feathers on the turkey to match. Count out feathers to match the number.
5. Acorn Compare – Pull two numbers and compare them. Draw the correct symbol.
6. Acorn Ten Frames – Pull an acorn number and build it on the ten frames.
7. Fall Subitizing – Pull an owl dot card and match it to a leaf number. Color the matching number on your recording sheet.

December Sensory Bin Activities Include:

4 December Literacy Sensory Bin Activities and 3 December Math Sensory Bins

1. Gumdrop Letters or Beginning Sounds – Students will pull a letter card and trace the match OR pull a picture card and color the matching beginning sound.
2. Hot Cocoa Sight Words – Students will match the sight words on the cocoa cup cards to the sight words on the marshmallows.
3. Ending Sounds Express – Students will pull a picture card and color the matching ending sound.
4. B and D Discrimination – Students will pull an ornament and decide if it shows b or d.
5. Snowflake Numbers – Students will pull a number card. They can trace the number, color a snowflake that represents the number, or write the numbers that come before and after.
6. Gumdrop Numbers – Students will pull a number card. They can compare two numbers or fill in the ten frames to match.
7. Christmas Tree Addition – Students will pull two dot dice cards. They will draw dots to match and add them together.
